ALOR SETAR: Projek penapisan minyak Sungai Limau Hidro Karbon Hub (SULIHH) bernilai RM36 bilion (AS$10 bilion) akan tetap dilaksanakan seperti dirancang selepas mendapat kelulusan laporan penilaian kesan alam sekitar (EIA), kata Menteri Besar Kedah, Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak.
Upacara pecah tanah projek itu telah beberapa kali tertangguh dipercayai akibat Jabatan Alam Sekitar menolak laporan EIA yang dikemukakan oleh pelabur kerana tidak lengkap.

Message from The Right Honourable Dato' Seri Ustaz Haji Azizan bin Abd. Razak, The Chief Minister of Kedah Darul Aman, Malaysia.

For many years, anything closest symbolizing Kedah would have been the state’s formidable agriculture sector. However the state of Kedah has made big strides in the socio-economic development in recent years. This year alone, the Kedah economy is expected to grow by more than 6 %. With a market driven and private sector led growth strategy, Kedah has attained a sound macro-economic environment with a sustained GDP growth, increased FDI inflow, robust growth of industrial production, especially in hi-tech, bio-tech and manufacturing.

Kedah Hydrocarbon Hub (KHH)

Arial View SULIHH

Under the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), the state has been identified to spearhead the development of oil and gas (O&G) and petrochemical projects despite having no hydrocarbon resources. The selection criterion is unique, as it is based solely on its strategic location and features such as:

Close proximity to Thailand and Indonesia; Deep water sea depths, and as such, ability to accommodate ultra large crude carrier vessels; Entry point into the Straits of Malacca; and Relatively inexpensive land cost, with firm backing by the state government to attract industrialisation and investments.

Based on approved projects in these areas, we believe the privately-funded high-impact onshore O&G projects in NCER will bring in investments of about RM83bil, making it the largest onshore O&G outlay among the five economic corridors.
