Efficient and Cost Efficient Land Transport Systems

Kedah has a splendid network of modern road and highways, with quick and easy access to the North-South Expressway extending from the Thailand border to Singapore. Kedah also have efficient railway system linked to all parts of Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand.

 

Airport

 

Kedah has two major airports – Alor Star Airport and Langkawi International Airport. Penang International Airport on the island of Penang is just 100 km away from the capital or less than half an hour from Kulim Technology Park. The Alor Star Airport terminal has the capacity to handle 38 commercial aircrafts a day.

 

Seaport

 

The northern region seaport, Penang Port helps meet all of Kedah’s shipping and maritime needs. As one of the South-East Asia’s biggest and most modern seaports, it offers superior cargo handling facilities as well as computerised container operations among the others to give Kedah vital seaport support. The state is planning to build a new port to serve the Northern Development Corridor.

 

Electricity Power

 

Kedah statewide electrical energy network is linked to the National power Grid via 132 KV and 275 KV transmission line, with power distributed throughout the state through a 33 KV / 11 KV systems at 50 cycles per second. The ring Formation Electrical System, the most advanced in the region, serves Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP). To ensure no disruption in power supply, KHTP is being provided by an independent power plant (IPP), a privatised power plant with modern facilites.

 

Telecommunication

 

The state is linked globally through the latest telecommunication systems and facilities to give investors yet another unbeatable edge. Services include domestic and worldwide voice message, data and video conferencing involving digital and fibre optics technology.

 

Treated water supply

 

Kedah’s modern systems of reservoirs and treatment plants ensure a consistent supply of over 82 million gallons of treated water per day, with the storage capacity of 49 million gallons to ensure you have ample supply for all your industry needs
