Kedah has the comparative advantage to propel its halal food industry to the forefront and secure international recognition. The image as a progressive, moderate and dynamic Islamic state will enable it to become a hub for the halal food industry.
In addition, there is a strong halal production base with good industrial and commercial infrastructure, as well as strong inter and intra-linkages between multinational corporations and small and medium enterprises.
At present, Kedah is among the four major halal food manufacturing centres that have been set up to help the nation becomes a global halal food hub centre. One of the successful halal food producer in Kedah is Ambang Dorongan Sdn. Bhd. Ambang Dorongan is the producer of Nani’s delicious, export-quality, frozen instant food produsts. Other potential halal products could be based and manufactured in Kedah are cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.
