Investors are encouraged to invest in commercial or intensive farming and aquaculture projects. To achieve the goals of accelerated development, productivity improvements and modernisation of the agricultural sector have been planned.
Kedah plans to be the national food production centre and the state welcomes investment in agricultural production, processing of agro products, the cultivation of vegetables and tubers, maize, essential oil crops and the production of animal feed. Other investment areas to explore are floriculture and commercial forestry such as the cultivation and the production of bamboo and rattan products. The sate also aspires to be national seed production centre.
The fishery sector shows huge potential and well rewarded investment opportunities. Current programmes favour high value activities in aquaculture development. These include culturing, spawning and breeding of salt and freshwater fishes and prawns. Investment opportunities are also enhanced by efforts already undertaken to enlarge the area for aquaculture development and provide technical support to raise productivity levels.
